PPLSI – Provider Law Firm Success Stories

Member’s sister received messages from a collection agent working on behalf of a finance company. In those messages, the collection agent improperly revealed certain financial information about the member. After consulting with the member, the provider attorney wrote a letter demanding the payment of damages on behalf of the member. The finance legal department paid member $1,000 and acknowledged that they had in fact disclosed private information to a third party.

Member hired a repairman who overcharged member beyond the allowable co-pay under member’s homeowner warranty. The provider attorney wrote a letter to the repairman. The repairman then withdrew any further collection activity.

Member was estranged from his spouse and living apart. Member had purchased several lump sum annuities before his marriage and relied upon those payments. The insurance company suspended the payments to the member after receiving a letter from the spouse claiming a right to the annuity income. The provider attorney wrote the carrier asserting that there was no legal basis for the termination of the payments. The insurance resumed paying member as a result of the letter.

Member was erroneously named as a defendant in a lawsuit for goods ordered in the amount of $11, 000. Member never ordered the goods in question and never had any business dealings with the plaintiff. The provider attorney made a phone call to the plaintiff’s attorney and convinced the attorney to dismiss member from the lawsuit thereby saving member thousands of dollars in defense costs and fees.

Member purchased a pre-owned vehicle from a dealer. The member experienced a number of problems with the car and learned that the car had been damaged in an accident prior to the purchase. The provider attorney wrote a letter to the dealer. In response to the letter, the dealer allowed the member to exchange the vehicle.

Family Death

Identity theft

Dear Pre-Paid Legal,

In less than a week after joining, a colelction agency called me about a long deliquent debt of $700. I could not convince them they had the wrong person. To protect my credit since I was buying a house shortly, I would have to pay the $700.
I called Pre-Paid on the toll-free number. The very not day, the collection agency called and apologized saying they had the wrong person, and my credit record is clear.
